Wedding car makeover tips from a bride-to-be!

This decorating team went all out!

It’s June, the month for wedding bells to ring and brides (or bridezillas) to take over your town!

Things can get a little crazy and stressful with the wedding planning, but thankfully it all works out for a fun, enjoyable wedding day. My name is Melissa Hale and I’m not only the Social Marketing Coordinator at Wilkins Automotive, but also a bride-to-be! I couldn’t resist sharing some tips I’ve found on decorating the “Getaway Car.”

Tip 1: Find out if the happy couple will be driving away in a rented limo or their own ride. There could be restrictions on what materials to use, and you definitely don’t want to get stuck paying a $100 cleaning fee at the end of the day!

Tip 2: Materials to avoid include spray paint (hopefully this is obvious), electrical or masking tape and whipped cream, which can damage the paint.

Bride-to-be, Melissa Hale.

Tip 3: Preferred decorating materials include bars of soap, shaving cream, streamers, window decals, magnets, plastic bottles rather than tin cans and window markers, but only on the windows. My sister found out the hard way at her wedding that the window paint takes weeks to get off the car paint.

Tip 4: Keep the window slogans simple like, “Just Hitched,” “Just Married,” or “Honk for the Newlyweds.”

I hope these tips will prove useful the next time you’re called to decorate a Getaway CarĀ and hopefully my bridal party will put these pointers to use!

Not sure where you could find them. I found the photo on google images. Maybe try oriental trading? Or check out costume separates around Halloween!

Sorry Sandra. I didn’t actually have this done to my car, just pulled the image off the web. I haven’t found these exact decorations, but you can always try costume shops for the accessories in a smaller form! Hope that helps!
